Lance Mountain x Nike Jordan 1 SB

With the emerging market of the sneaker culture growing exponentially, new sneaker collectors might not even know who Lance Mountain is and that is somewhat of a tragedy to us. If you’re a newbie and need a crash course, Robert Lance Mountain is not just a prolific artist, he is also a professional skateboarder sponsored by the Swoosh SB along side many other skate brands.

Now that’s out of the way, we decided to take a closer look at the second installment of the Jordan 1 SB that were re-done by Lance Mountain. The high concept of “wearing your kicks” was definitely a prevalent element in the design and execution of these Jordan 1 SB’s. Obviously skaters wear and thrash their kicks more than others and the simple idea of sneakers getting better as they’re worn was pure brilliance. Unboxing the Lance Mountain x Jordan 1 SB’s might leave you a bit understated with the either the solid black or solid white colorway. But as time passes and the more you were these kicks, the paint that overlays the upper start to deteriorate as the true color starts to unveil itself. To the true hardcore skater, this was a wet dream. To have kicks look better as they’re more worn was something that we all thought was only once applied to raw selvedge denim but the genius Lance Mountain took that same concept and applied it to the new Jordan 1 SB flawlessly.

Our patience was pretty thin by the time we were able to grab our pairs so we decided to cop some paint thinner and start going in on getting the true colors to start surfacing and boy do they look dope! The mixed textures of swiped paint meshed in with the classic colorways really give the look and feel of these kicks a lot of life. Not to mention the mismatched colors for each pair gives you the best of both worlds on the OG colorways and simply put – is just a different and creative approach.

Make sure to peep all the images after the jump as well as the video of Lance Mountain talking about the kicks itself which was produced by Nike SB. Both colorways of the Lance Mountain x Jordan 1 SB are in stock and can be purchased here.
